About Us

For 18 years, the Tshepang Programme, a dedicated non-profit in rural South Africa, has safeguarded, nurtured, and mentored thousands of the world's most vulnerable and at-risk children, all on just a few dollars a day.

What We Do

DSC_1143_edited.jpg
Provide Nutritious Daily Meals

The meal provided to the children at Tshepang is their only meal per day.

  • If they don’t eat, they cannot attend school and/or learn while they are there.

  • Without education, they cannot break the generational cycle of poverty.

  • When they are malnourished they are likely to fall ill.

  • If they have HIV/AIDS - a lack of a nutritious diet will make them more susceptible to further illness and possible death.

Promote Education
& Community Safety

We are the only support system for the orphaned and vulnerable children in our community.

  • We teach them the importance of education, the difference between appropriate and inappropriate behavior, how to stand up for themselves, and how to stay safe.

  • We organize community events and provide a safe space for kids with adults they can trust and rely on. We help give kids hope for a brighter future.

  • We teach kids the importance of getting an education, and how it can help them achieve their future hopes and dreams.

Offer School Support & Mentorship

  • We conduct home/school visits

  • Provide homework supervision

  • Assist with documentation for the children to receive school grants

  • Document and file the children's birth certificates and ID documents so students can access education and additional funding.

  • We have programs that aim to educate teens to make informed life decisions.

Hospital and Clinic visits to support HIV-positive children and caregivers.

  • We check and offer support with monitoring their nutrition, medication, and viral load.

  • We offer HIV/AIDs counseling and training, including how to stay negative and live with being positive.

  • We provide referrals for family planning to prevent pregnancy.

About Susan

In 2006, Susan quit her job and cashed in her small savings to open Tshepang.
